There were 4 fantastic activities that constantly took place at all campus of IPS. This was a good chance for all students to be fully satisfied with reading and sharing books together with their friends. This was also an effective way to motivate and inspire the love of reading books for students at the Asian International School.
In the year of 2016-2017, The International Primary School (IPS) organized the Book Fair and the Storytelling & Book Talk Contest 2017 as a good way to productively maintain and develop the reading culture in academic environment. This event totally attracted the attendance and interest from most of students. Various exciting activities such as book exhibition, storytelling contest, establishing bookcases for students, and giving books were held from October, 2016 to the end of April, 2017.
In the book exhibition, students were able to not only freely select a wide range of different Vietnamese and English books to enjoy reading time with their friends, but also bring the books home to do research and get ready for the storytelling contest. These activities encouraged students to share stories from the books and understand the benefits of reading books.
A part from two above target activities, the program also aimed to create the students’ bookcases, and carry out operations of giving books as the presents to motivate the exchange of knowledge among students through great books. In order to enthusiastically respond to building students’ bookcases, students voluntarily donated good books such as English comics, literature, science books etc. Especially, at the end of semester, the students will receive back a good book from this meaningful source.
Due to positive results, the Asian International School has considered the event as a very useful learning experience that could bring a lot of benefits in helping students practice the habits of reading books, expanding the knowledge, nourishing their soul, establishing life skills and creating their imagination.
