2022-2023 FIRE & RESCUE DRILLS
To ensure effective fire and rescue drills in school, The Asian International School - IPS has taken proactive measures to equip the students with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle emergency situations such as fires. The school collaborated with the Fire and Rescue Police Department in the city to organize a series of propaganda, vocational training, fire and rescue drills at six campuses from December 14 to 22, 2022.
As part of the drill, the officers of the Fire and Rescue Police Department disseminated the rules and regulations related to fire prevention and fighting, and provided guidance on the causes and measures to be taken in the event of a fire. They also instructed teachers and school staff on how to use firefighting equipment on site, demonstrated the use of portable fire extinguishers, and taught some safety skills for escaping from a fire.
Scenario simulations of the drills helped teachers, staff, and students perform necessary procedures for safe evacuation, enhance their ability to coordinate and be prepared in the event of an incident. These simulations included maintaining composure and identifying the location of the fire, strictly adhering to guidelines in the event of a fire, crouching low and moving quickly towards escape routes, using damp cloths to protect against toxic smoke, etc.
The drills helped teachers, staff, and students enhance their awareness and responsibility of fire prevention, fighting and rescue measures at the school. Participants were educated on how to protect themselves and those around them in the event of a fire. Furthermore, the drills ensured a safe and secure learning, living, and working environment for all members of the school community.
Annually, in addition to regularly checking equipment, The Asian International School maintains a collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Police Department in the city to conduct serious and in-depth training sessions. The purpose of these sessions is to thoroughly educate the school staff and teachers on the rules and regulations regarding the safety of fire prevention and fighting, as well as to ensure their proficiency in handling common firefighting equipment. Through proactive and flexible preparation, the school is able to effectively respond in the event of a fire.
