The City-ranking Contest for Excellent Students is annually held by the Department of Education & Training - Ho Chi Minh City in order to help students systematize and enhance their knowledge as well as encourage their awareness of self-study. The contest includes: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Literature, History, Geography, English, French, Japanese, and Technology. The tests are based on the content of current textbooks. There were 2,916 students taking the tests at Tran Van On High School in district 1, and 374 others at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, and the Centre for Career and Technical Education in District 11. In the contest, each district had about 12 contestants per subject. If a district had at least one winner in a subject in the previous school year 2010-2011, they could send 5 more students to take part in the contest in that subject this year.

Being honored to be one of the top representatives of The Asian International School to enter the district and city-level Contest for Excellent Students, Liu Khai Hung of class 9/16 at Cao Thang campus has greatly achieved the third prize in English. This accomplishment is not only Hung or his family and school's pride, but also it is a good example and motivation to foster students' learning movement at The Asian International School.
Liu Khai Hung – Third runner-up in the city-level Contest for Excellent Students
Being a good student, Khai Hung has always been adored by all his teachers and friends. He is fully aware of the academic importance and determines that study will help him fulfill his goals in the future. Such awareness motivates him on striving for the best academic results in order to be worthy of his parents and teachers' expectations.
To prepare for the contest, apart from being trained by teachers at school, he also spent a lot of time reviewing what he has been absorbed, learning about other materials, reading books, getting more new vocabularies, practicing English grammar and doing advanced exercises at home. Liu Khai Hung shared: "It was so surprising for me to have a connection with English. At The Asian International School, I have had many opportunities to communicate with a lot of English teachers, especially with foreign ones, so I can improve my English skills. As a result, I gradually fell in love with English without any realizing it. Achieving the third prize was, to me, a continuous striving process."
Liu Khai Hung does know how to arrange schedule reasonably. At school, he pays much attention to teachers' explanation in order to quickly acquire lessons. At home, after reviewing the lessons once, he spends time finding more reference books. According to his experience, in order to get impressive achievements in all subjects it is absolute that you should have strong feeling for both these subjects and teachers who masters in such fields as well. Therefore, he has successively been an excellent student in the past 9 years since studying at the International Primary School (IPS).

Happily, Liu Khai Hung continued to share more: "During the very challenging contest, I received a lot of support from my friends, school and family. Thus, I would like to show my great gratitude to my family and classmates who always supported and encouraged me a lot, especially my teachers trying their best to improve my abilities right at the first round. Thanks to the last contest, I got more useful knowledge and experience to develop my whole English abilities and to make good preparations for the next ones."
After getting the third prize, Hung continues his studies and joins in team to discuss the lessons with his classmates, another way to broaden his own knowledge. Truly, Liu Khai Hung is really a good example for all students.

At the present time, he is putting all his efforts into making the best preparation for the last year at AHS. He shared his future plans: "At this time, I am trying to get the best results in coming examinations so that I can win a scholarship to study abroad as what I have dreamed about. If possible, I will attend the economic or foreign trade courses because I feel that those fields are very interesting.
Liu Khai Hung – a little schoolboy with great ambitions – is making some necessary arrangements for studying abroad and getting better knowledge. There is a bright future waiting for him ahead and very strong support from his family, friends and The Asian International School teachers. In fact, people's support as well as his own knowledge will help him to achieve his aspirations. We all wish Liu Khai Hung to have a lot of opportunities and success in the future.
